The sides of the Montnegre mountains reach Canet de Mar in the form of the Pedracastell Woods. The highest point reaches 300metres and one of the best views of the coast (even Barcelona in clear days) can be observed from there. From 2006 the routes are signalled through the woods of Canet. The GR-5 or long distance trekking route linking Canet de Mar with Sitges is also available.

The route runs through oak and pine tree valleys. At the highest points, there are cherry trees and beautiful sea views.

Blue route

This route offers impressive coastal views of the region as well as the superb scenery of theMontnegre and Montseny mountains.

Yellow route
Camí dels rials i els alocs
Polígon industrial – Riera d´en Misser – Rial de can Pouet – Font de la Fontana – Camí de la carena – Torrent de les Teixoneres – Rial de can Pouet

Some of the original indigenous vegetation, for instance, white poplars and chaste berry bushes are still preserved in the Torrent de les Teixoneres where the small streams flow into the sea.

Canet is where the Sender de Gran Recorregut GR-5 starts. This is a 214 kilometre journey taking in the natural parks and reserves of Montserrat, Obac, Montseny and Montnegre coming to an end in Sitges in the Garraf region.

GR-5 points in Canet de Mar: estació Renfe – Riera Sant Domènec – Riera Buscarons – Passeig de la Misericòrdia – Santuari de la Misericòrdia.
